The drop catch is an advanced pinball skill. To perform it, the player must hold the flipper up, and release the flipper as the ball reaches it. If the ball was coming from the opposite side as the flipper, it may roll back into a cradle. If it is coming straight down, the ball will stop on the flipper, then start rolling down. Because there is less momentum down the flipper compared to a ball coming down the inlane, to shoot the same shot, the player must let the ball roll further down the flipper than usual before shooting.
